Leprechaun Chase St. Paddy's Day March 17, 2013 @ 8:30 AM
The Leprechaun Chase is Reno's newest & most exciting event: a 5K run and walk on St. Patrick's Day through the streets in Midtown and the Wells Avenue District!
Can You Beat The Leprechaun?

Yes, there will be a speedy leprechaun in the race. The leprechaun will start after everyone else has begun, giving everyone a generous head start. If you beat the leprechaun across the finish line, you will win a special prize.

Don't despair if the leprechaun beats you to the finish. For every runner and walker who the leprechaun passes, the leprechaun's pot of gold will grow in size. Who will benefit from the increased pot of gold? The Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum (The Discovery), who is Race178's non profit partner in the event.

Course Details

The course showcases two of Reno's most vibrant neighborhoods: Midtown and Wells Avenue. The course should be fast, mostly flat with lots of long straightaways and no dramatic climbs. The course will use the following streets: Stewart, Wells, Pueblo, Holcomb and Center.

The start and finish will be located adjacent to The Discovery located at 490 South Center Street. There is an out and back section on Holcomb. Do you know how many out and back sections there were on the 2012 London Olympic Marathon course? View a map of our course, as well as the location of the Packet Pick-up on Saturday and the event parking Sunday.

The course will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

Packet Pick-Up

Packet pick-up will be Saturday, March 16th from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Junkee Clothing Exchange, one of Midtown's gems located at 960 South Virginia Street.

Packet pick-up will be available on race day from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. near the start/finish.

Event Parking

Please park in the county parking lot across from the Washoe County Courthouse. You can enter the parking lot off of Sierra, Court and South Virginia streets. From there it is a short walk to The Discovery.

Post-Race Beer Garden

The official post-race beer garden will be at Ceol Irish Pub, 538 S. Virginia Street. Ceol is just a block away from the finish line and a slight detour on the walk back to the Court House Parking Lot. Ceol has a busy weekend but they will open early for us that Sunday morning. Every runner and walker (who is 21 or older of course :) ) will be entitled to one Irish beer at a special race rate ($3). Ceol will donate 100 percent of those beer sale proceeds to the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum. You are welcome to drink more beers but they will be at the normal prices. Ceol's regular St. Patrick's Day festivities will be kicking off around 11 that morning. For more information, check out www.ceolirishpub.com. Thank you Ceol Irish Pub for being a part of the Leprechaun Chase!
